515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(651) 766 -4029 / FAX: (651) 766 -4048
www.ci.little- canada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Greg Schroeder, Public Works Director
DATE: May 15, 2002
RE: Vacation of Sanitary Sewer Easement
MAYOR
➢Qlchael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalre
Jim LaVaile
Matt Anderson
Rick Montour
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
As you may know, Common Bond Communities is proposing to build an addition on to the north
side of Garden Terrace. Unfortunately, an existing City of Little Canada sanitary sewer line is
located under the proposed addition footprint and will have to be relocated to facilitate construction
of this addition. Besides relocating the existing sanitary sewer line, we will have to vacate the
existing sanitary sewer easement within Lot 2, Block 1, Market Place, as shown on the attached
Sketch A. In addition, to ensure maintenance of the relocated sanitary sewer line, we will have to
establish sanitary sewer easements over the new sanitary sewer route as shown on Sketch B.
Funding:
The City of Little Canada is selling Lot 2 to Common Bond Communities and the cost to relocate the
existing sanitary sewer line is included in the purchase price.
Recommendation
Staff is recommending that the Council approve the vacation of the sanitary sewer easement
within Lot 2, Block 1, Market Place subject to the receipt of sanitary sewer easements for the
new sanitary sewer route.
H: \GregS \Correspondence \Greg S 2002 \Garden Terrace Sewer Easements.doc
