This service is wholly supported by local businesses
who underwrite the cost with their advertising messages and there is no cost to the city
taxpayer.
Last week we bought out the Ameribench Company that installed benches in the City of
Little Canada last fall This week our company has removed twelve of these benches.
This situation provides an entirely new dynamic with regard to the bus bench program in
the City of Little Canada. It is our desire to serve the city with eight to ten benches in
locations acceptable to the city and city staff.
Recently a new ordinance was written which we discussed at the March meeting. This is a
good ordinance and we ask that it be reaffirmed or deferred for further study. If reaffirmed
we would like to suggest a ten bench limit in the City. This, along with the benches the city
has or will install, would adequately serve the transit needs of the City of Little Canada.
We respectfully submit that the maintenance and cost of providing benches is higher than
that assumed in the city staff report. This maintenance cost has resulted in few if any cities
undertaking this expense other than in a "beautification project ".
We sincerely feel that this proposal would provide a good partnership with the city and its
endeavor to provide an aesthetic transit amenity for its transit community.
Sincerely,
r
act,
Roland C.
