C‘4 v Yerf4 Ceanala
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(651) 766 -4029 / FAX: (651) 766 -4048
www.ci.little- canada.mn.t.ls
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Greg Schroeder, Public Works Director
DATE: June 12, 2002
RE: 2002 Street Seal Coating
MAYOR
Nlichael 1. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Matt Anderson
Rick Montour
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
On Wednesday, June 12, 2002, the City of Little Canada received, opened, and read aloud the
bids for our street seal coating. In an effort to get the best value for the City, we combined our
bid with the City of Vadnais Heights and also requested bids using virgin and recycled
aggregate. Attached is a summary of the bids received. Also, attached is the list of streets to be
seal coated..
Last year (2001) bids for this work using recycled aggregate was $0.60 per square yard or $0.11
higher than the 2002 bid for the FA -2 and $0.51 per square yard or $0.08 lower than the 2002 bid
for the FA -3.
After evaluating the bids, it was determined that Pearson Bros., Inc. provides the best value for
the City of Little Canada at an estimated total value of $14,511.85. There are sufficient funds in
our street budget for this work.
I recommend that the Council direct staff to enter into a contract with Pearson Bros., Inc. for
our 2002 street seal coating.
11: \GregS \Streets \Seal Coating\2002 Seal Coating memo.doc
2
