2002 GOAL SETTING SESSION
Fifteen participants began with a review of 2001 goals list eliminating from the list any
goals which have been completed or are substantially completed. The participants then
offered their suggestions for goals that the City should accomplish during the year 2002.
These goals were recorded, participants ranked the goals, and the rankings were tabulated
based on the scenarios attached.
Each person ranked their top ten goals from the list of 34 items generated at this
workshop. The rankings were assigned 10 points for the top goal priority, 9 points for the
second 8 points for the third, and so on. Tabulations were done based upon the total
points received for each goal. Tabulations were broken down by elected officials, non-
elected officials, and a total for all participants.
Priority rankings were assigned based upon the elected official tabulations. To be a
priority for 2002, an item had to be in the top 10 based upon total points received and it
also had to have at least three elected official votes. Based upon this process, ten goals
met the criteria. These top ten goals are as follows:
1. Expand Little Canada Road corridor redevelopment area.
2. Establish business revolving loan fund.
3. Plan Delonais property redevelopment project.
4. Complete Country Drive redevelopment.
5. Identify and work on crime "hot spots ".
6. Focus on City -wide code enforcement.
7. Identify /resolve issues regarding Turnquist /Palman property.
8. Acquire easements for multiple trail sections.
9. Promote Little Canada identity.
10. Plan for acquisition of sites to prevent "land locking" in all zoning
districts.
The City Administrator and City staff will put together work plans for accomplishing
these goals. Work plans will be presented to the Council for their review and input.
The goal setting session was adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
