645 -3601
TWIN CITY TESTING AND ENGINEERING LABORATORY, INC.
REPORT OF:
LABORATORY No. 9 -4910
ENGINEERS AND CHEMISTS
662 Cromwell Avenue - St. Paul, Minn. 55114
EXCAVATION INSPECTION
DATE: September 5, 1972
PAGE: 3
CONCLUSIONS
Based on the results of our inspection it is our opinion the natural underlying soil net-
work in the areas inspected will offer adequate support for the necessary fill material
and designed unit loadings with no resulting detrimental settlement.
With respect to the fill material, our field density tests indicate the fill in the areas
tested was sufficiently compact to receive the designed unit loadings. In addition, the
results of the deep penetration boring indicate a soil profile consisting of relatively
dense fill underlain by competent strata of natural cohesive soils. The relatively loose
layer of fill encountered in the fill stratum would be of insufficient thickness to cause
structural problems, provided this information is representative of thickness conditions
at the site.
REMARKS
Our inspections at the project indicate the excavation procedures are being properly executed.
Assuming the entire excavation was carried down to the competent silty clay or granular soils
id the compaction tests and standard penetration borings are representative of the entire
Bite, we would not anticipate settlement or consolidation in the soil system of amagnitude
detrimental to the structure.
WK:BRD:rs
TWIN CITY TESTING AND
ENGINEERING LABORATORY, INC.
Wayne Kilket
Civil Engineer
m'r
ian R.
