The priorities for park and
recreational development need to be
continually reviewed as additional
input is received from the residents
and as the City changes.
The Park Commission wishes to
provide all the residents of Little
Canada with equal opportunities to
participate in recreational
activities. All residents should
have convenient access to facilities
and an opportunity to participate in
a variety of activities.
ACQUISITION
The City of Little Canada has
completed the acquisition of its
major park areas including Spooner
Park, Pioneer Park and Gervais Mill
Park. The costs associated with the
acquisition for these properties is
as follows:
Spooner Park
Pioneer Park
Gervais Mill Park
$ 479,635.00
1,022,035.00
36,654.00
These acquisitions have been funded
by three primary sources, including
donation, state and federal grants
and park land dedication fees.
These acquisitions, combined with
land that has been received by the
City through the park land
dedication ordinance, have
established a very sound park system
that will adequately serve the needs
of the City for the foreseeable
future.
There is additional land acquisition
recommended in the Park and
Recreation Master Plan that has not
been completed. The following
acquisitions are recommended:
Turnquist Wetland Area 30 Acres
Schletty Wetland Area 34 Acres
NSP Transmission Line R.O.W.5 Acres
Waterworks Park 3 Acres
51
