515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(651) 766 -4029 / FAX: (651) 766 -4048
www.ci.little- canada.mn.us
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Matt Anderson
Rick Montour
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel IIansoi, City Administrator
DATE: February 8, 2002
RE: Call for Workshop to Review Layouts for Market Place Development Proposal
Staff has continued to meet with representative of the Market Place Shopping Center relative to their
proposal to construct new retail space on the Delonais property. The developers have prepared some
options to address compliance with our Redevelopment Guidelines as well as their development needs.
Due to the nature of these concepts, I feel it would be worthwhile for the Council to review them with the
developer to provide additional guidance as to what will be acceptable. (Parking between the building
and the Rice Street is one area of concern.) We will also have a better idea of other development
concepts proposed at Little Canada Road that should allow us to achieve consistency between the various
proposals. (I will provide copies of these sketches at Wednesday's meeting. My copies are of poor
quality and I will get cleaner ones for you to review.)
To that end, I am recommending we hold a workshop at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27th to revie
these alternatives.
cc: Bob Grootwassink
