Animal Control
Services Inc
Memo
To: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
From Richard Ruzicka, President Animal Control Services, Inc.
Date: 10/11/01
Re: Contract Renewal for 2002
I have enclosed a contract for services for the year 2002. There have been some changes to the new
contract.
Due to the past month of September and the uncertainty of our economy, I have inserted a paragraph
(12), which will allow Animal Control Service, Inc., to raise its patrol rates if the price of fuel reaches
$2.00 or more per gallon. The City will be made aware of this request along with an explanation as to
the reason why, before I'm forced to take this action.
I also feel in order for me to increase any more fees, this burden should be passed on to the animal
owner; therefore, I have removed the $2.00 handling fee and replaced it with a $12.00 impoundment
fee to be paid by the animal owner when their animal is reclaimed. I will still charge the cities
impoundment fee of $25.00.
Also, for the first time, I have been forced to charge a Kennel Vaccination fee to help keep down
different viruses from time to time. The pet owner will pay this cost, if the animal is claimed. If the
animal is not claimed, the City will have to pay the fee.
This year I have learned that any domestic animal picked up D.O.A. must be impounded and held for a
period of 6 days to await the possibility the animal will be claimed.
I have increased the patrol hour's fee to $27.00, raising it $1.00. All other fees for services have
remained the same.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and the City of Arden Hills for allowing ACSI to provide
services to the residents and the City of Little Canada and look forward to providing many more years
of service.
Thank you!
