515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(651) 766 -4029 / FAX: (651) 766 -4048
cvww. c1.litt1e -c anada. mn. us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: January 18, 2002
RE: Community Banner Program
MAYOR
Michael L Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Sealze
Jim LaValle
Matt Anderson
Rick Montour
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
The Chamber of Commerce is offering a program that would provide us with new banners and mounting
devices for our existing poles as well as for our new street lights along Little Canada Road. The banners
will be sponsored by local business. The sponsorship acknowledgement would be on the lower 25% of
the banner. (Attached is the information we have received regarding this program.)
We were scheduled to replace our old banners this year. (I am attempting to obtain a price for the banners
if we purchased them on our own.) Based on the samples provided to us by the Chamber, the new
banners would be of high quality. We would be responsible for installing the brackets and banners.
The main issues for your consideration are:
• Do we want sponsorship (advertising) on the banners versus buying our own?
• Do we want to add banners to the streetlights along Little Canada Road?
Your guidance as to how we should proceed with this opportunity is needed.
Cc: Jim Morelan, Parks & Recreation Director
Greg Schroeder, Public Works Director
Greg Hoag, Parks Maintenance
