rr <br />DA <br />The American Planning Association is a national nonprofit, public interest, and <br />research organization with a membership of over 30,000 planners, elected and <br />appointed officials, and citizens concerned about urban and rural development <br />issues. Minnesota's APA Chapter publishes a monthly newsletter, sponsors profes- <br />sional development programs, conducts an annual meeting and offers networking <br />opportunities for anyone with an interest in planning. TPL specializes in the purchase of <br />properties from willing sellers, with subsequent resale of the land to public agencies <br />or nonprofit organizations for public open space use. TPL can assist local govern- <br />ments with identification of potential funding sources and financing for land acqui- <br />sitions, can serve as interim tide holder while a public agency procures the funds <br />necessary for a purchase, and can help local governments and community groups to <br />implement campaigns to mobilize support for natural areas and open space projects <br />and their funding. <br />99 <br />
