of Little C dndgd
COMMUNITY PRIDE
1953 - 2003
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117-1600
(651) 766 -4029 / FAX: (651) 766 -4048
wmw.ci.littde- canada.nm.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: November 7, 2003
RE: Call for Workshop on Unweave the Weave Project
A IAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
C.O U11TC1L
Jim LaValIc
tila tt Anderson
Rick Montour
Bill Btesener
1;ADAIGVIS.IRAIDR
Joel R. Hanson
As you will recall, the City has raised three issues relative to the Unweave the Weave Project. Those
are:
1. Installation of Sound Walls
2. Traffic Mitigation
3. Drainage Improvements
MN DOT has provided a positive response on the requested drainage improvements, but has not
commented on the City's request for the installation of sound walls and for information as to the
efforts they will make relative to traffic mitigation.
MN DOT will be requesting Little Canada's approval of their bid package. This gives the City the
opportunity to attempt to influence the improvements that are planned for our community. As a
result, I am recommending that we call a workshop meeting for Wednesday, November 26th, at 6:00
p.m. to meet with MN DOT officials to discuss their issues and to reiterate our position as well as
discuss their perspective. We will also need to hold a hearing on plan approval. I anticipate this will
occur in January.
