2. How will the municipality assure materials are collected in 2004 from those households that will <br />not receive recycling collection services under a municipally - arranged contract? (e.g., ordinance <br />provisions, licensing requirements, other mechanism) What materials are required to be <br />collected, and at what frequency? <br />The City Ordinance 41809.050: <br />All our licensed haulers provide recycling to the households in the city. <br />Weekly pickups are also provided for multi -unit buildings. <br />3. How will the municipality assure that all recyclables collected from residential properties are <br />recycled, whether collected by the municipality's contracted vendor or another service provider? <br />Haulers reports and by provision in our contract. <br />4. What changes are planned or anticipated far 2004? <br />We are currently writing /making a recycling video that we plan to run regularly <br />on our cable channel. <br />5. How are recycling services in 2004 to be paid for, beyond any use of SCORE funds? What long- <br />term funding source is in place for recycling services? <br />The haulers currently invoice residents on their garbage. billings. The haulers <br />provide and promote recylcing through fliers. The city provides promotion of <br />recylcing, also, through website, newsletter, welcome brochures and displays. <br />6. Describe the municipality's source reduction and recycling promotional efforts. List types of <br />materials to be used, intended audiences, and method and frequency of distribution. <br />Because of budget cuts, the city reduced the publication of newsletter to 4 from <br />6 in previous years. Each newsletter has pages of information on recycling for <br />our residents. We also provide a welcome brochure to new residents to inform them <br />of our recycling procedures. We provide information on the cable tv, city info <br />line, and on our website. Also, we set up displays on recycling for the Spring <br />Town Hall Meeting. <br />7. What measurable goals do you have for source reduction and recycling activities in 2004? Please <br />describe how you will measure progress toward those goals and how activities will be evaluated. <br />We continue to strive for a 5% increase annually for both single family and <br />multi -unit residents. We compile this information from the hauler's tonnage <br />reports and track for progress. <br />8. If any activities will be conducted by a contractor or subcontractor, what provisions will be made <br />to monitor and audit (sub)contractor activities? <br />We require our contracted haulers to report their tonnage reports to our office. <br />We monitor the haulers tonnage from these reports. They also report any resident's <br />complaints, suggested improvements, etc. <br />3 <br />
