Little Canada
Fire Department, Inc.
October 15 °1, 2003
Members of the City Council
City of Little Canada
Little Canada, Mn. 55117
Dear Council Members:
325 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, Minnesota 55117 (612) 484 -2722
Our organization, the Little Canada Volunteer Fire Dept., had an opportunity to sponsor
and participate in Fund Raising Raffles for Joe Sacco, a member of the St. John's
community and brother to Jocie Duray, co -owner of the Hoggsbreath Restaurant.
The fundraiser was a great success and the entire costs and expenses including numerous
prizes were all donated.
I would like to request for the Council to waive the required 10% contribution on the net
profit from this fundraiser for the following reasons:
1. Fundraising was not conducted in our ordinary course of business, but for the
specific purpose of assisting Joe, who was involved in an unfortunate
accident.
2. As stated earlier, all prizes, costs, and expenses were contributed by numerous
friends of Joe and the net profit therefore, is not a true profit, but a substantial,
if not the entire portion of the profit is an aggregate of donations intended for
Joe by his friends.
3. Waiving of the required 10% contribution, in my opinion, is the right thing to
do and will earn much goodwill from the City residents and the friends and
family of Joe Sacco.
Sincerely hoping that the Council would grant this request for the City to waive the
required 10 %.
Very truly yours,
James Morelan
0
