Hanson MEMORANDUM TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council FROM: Kathy Glanzer, Deputy Clerk DATE: September 5, 2003 RE: Truth In Taxation Hearing As required under State Statute, the City of Little Canada must hold its Truth In Taxation hearing (and continuation hearing, determined necessary) between Saturday, November 2911i and Saturday, December 20`vm' The County, School Districts, and Metro Joint District have scheduled their TNT hearings, and the date the City chooses cannot conflict with any of these hearing dates. (See calendar attached of dates [eft available to the City.) Given that the Legislature has reserved Monday, December 1st, and Monday, December 8th, for cities to schedule their TNT hearings, it would be staff's recommendation that the Little Canada Truth In Taxation hearing be scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Monday, December 1, 2003. A continuation hearing should be called for Monday, December 8, 2003, and will be held only if determined necessary. Actual adoption of the budget cannot occur at the Truth In Taxation hearing. In the past the City has combined its two regular December meetings into one, and has held the Public Hearing for Budget adoption at that meeting. Consistent with that practice, it would be staff's recommendation that the Council cancel its regularly scheduled December 10'1' and December 24th Council meetings, and call a Council meeting for Wednesday, December 17`x'. Staff would further recommend that the Council call a public hearing to adopt 2004 Budget at the December 17'1' meeting. 5
