The Commission suggested
scheduling the meeting on Wednesday, August 27, 2003 at 6:30 p.m.
BENCH The Little Canada Fire Department has expressed interest in donating benches to be placed
DONATION in Little Canada's parks in honor of retired fire chiefs. Sanders stated that he suggested
constructing a memorial trail from the fire station east, on the south side of Gervais Creek, and
looping around into Spooner Park to connect to existing trails. The benches could be placed
along this trail with interpretive signage telling about the fire department. It was suggested the
cost of this project would be shared between the city and the fire department. There was some
concern expressed about the cost due to recent budget issues. Sanders suggested placing a
gravel base until there was money in the budget to pave the trail.
The Commission favored this project and liked the idea of keeping the benches together along a
trail in one park.
