Hanson <br />CITY OF LITTLE CANADA <br />WHEREAS, the City of Little Canada has been reviewing the needs of the radio communication <br />system that provides emergency services to police, fire, and emergency medical agencies in its <br />jurisdiction; and <br />WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Radio Board as a result of legislative changes, has the authority and <br />resources to provide financial assistance to local units of government in the metropolitan area that <br />plan to participate in the regional 800 MHz digital trunked communication system; and <br />WHEREAS, special legislative authority has been given to Minnesota counties to issue bonds for <br />the purpose of designing, constructing, and installing the infrastructure, facilities, and equipment <br />necessary to participate in the regional system; and <br />WHEREAS, Federal funds have been appropriated and made available through the Minnesota <br />Department of Public Safety to supplement local and state funds for the purpose of participating in <br />the regional system, for which metropolitan area local governments are eligible; and <br />WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Little Canada has determined that its participation in the <br />regional system would improve its interoperability among its various agencies and with other <br />jurisdictions for purposes of mutual aid and emergency medical services, thus improving public <br />safety, as well as the entire region's ability to respond to weapons of mass destruction incidents; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Little Canada intends to <br />proceed with planning for development of an upgraded radio communication system with the <br />intention of participating in the regional system and that the Metropolitan Radio Board be notified of <br />Little Canada's intention and request any state or federal financial incentives that may be offered to <br />local jurisdictions. <br />Adopted this 9 '1' day of July, 2003. <br />Attest: <br />Joel R.
