COMMUNITY PRIDE
1953 - 2003
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117-1600
(651) 766-4029 / FAX: (651) 766-4048
www.ci.little- canada. mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
FROM: Kathy Glanzer, Deputy Clerk
DATE: May 21, 2003
R.E: Dancing and Entertainment License Ordinance
MMf1YOR
Michael L Fahey
COUNCIL
Jim LaValle
:Matt Anderson
Rick Montour
Bill Blesener
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
In reviewing the City's Dancing and Entertainment License Ordinance, it is stall's interpretation that
this ordinance is meant to apply to businesses holding liquor licenses. However, the ordinance is
somewhat unclear in this regard. Therefore, it is the recommendation of City staff that the attached
ordinance be adopted to more clearly make the connection to liquor businesses.
City staff does not feel it necessary to require dancing and entertainment licenses of businesses that
may hire a band in conjunction with a grand opening celebration, for example. Any noise or parking
issues that may arise with such events would be addressed in other sections of the City's codes (noise
ordinance and /or parking regulations).
