MINUTES
Parks & Recreation Commission
April 3, 2003
)PERTY The Director indicated that the house at 60 Little Canada Road East is for sale. This house is
AEI' 60 LC RD adjacent to Round Lake and is a property the Commission has previously discussed acquiring to
add to the park area in the Rice Street/Little Canada Road redevelopment area. He stated that
the asking price is S299,000 and it has been on the market for approximately two weeks.
Sanders questioned whether an appraisal would support that price. He indicated that if someone
purchases the property, it could be 10+ years before it is for sale again. The Director felt that
the asking price was probably close to the value in that a real estate company is listing it.
Sackett Glaser commented that she did not favor spending that kind of money when there are
other important priorities needing funding. Gray agreed. Sackett Glaser stated that this parcel is
at the east end of the development area and although the acquisition of that parcel is important
to the project, the trail plan for that area could be redesigned to avoid the parcel.
Gray stated that the parcel at 60 Little Canada Road East was valuable to acquire for addition
to the trails plan, but given the other park priorities at this dine, he recommended against the
purchase of the property since it would not be a wise use of our limited fiends.
Motion seconded by Larson.
Motion carried 5 — 0.
