The Twin Cities, which has been home to antiwar rallies, may be more difficult to convince, Hutton said. But she is confident that people everywhere support the troops no matter how they feel about the war. Hutton especially believes that people would fly the banner if they knew how much it meant to military families. She herself is often overcome when she sees a flag flying while out for a drive or a walk. "It just touches everybody's heart," she said. Hutton still recalls how many flags flew after the Sept. 11 attacks. She said she is puzzled why some people haven't put their flags out yet. If people see flags displayed in their cities, she hopes they will dig out their own flags and fly them. "This just may be something that, you know, needs a nudge," she said. "That's all I'm doing.
