903.110. SIGNS. <br />A. Purpose. This section is established to protect and promote health, safety, general <br />welfare and order within the City of Little Canada through the establishment of a <br />comprehensive and impartial set of standards, regulations and procedures governing <br />the type, numbers, size, structure, location, height, lighting, erection, use and/or <br />display of devices, signs or symbols serving as a visual communication media to <br />persons situated within or upon public rights -of -way or properties. The provisions of <br />this subdivision are intended to encourage opportunity for effective, orderly <br />communication by reducing confusion and hazards resulting from unnecessary and /or <br />indiscriminate use of communication facilities. <br />B. Permitted and Prohibited Signs. <br />1. Permitted Signs. The following signs are allowed without a permit, but shall <br />comply with all other applicable provisions of this Ordinance: <br />a. Public Signs. <br />b. Identification Signs. There may be one per premise, not to exceed <br />two (2) square feet in area. If the sign is freestanding, the total height <br />may not exceed five (5) feet. <br />c. Integral Signs. <br />d. Political Campaign Signs. Shall not exceed eight (8) square feet in <br />all Residential Districts, or sixteen (16) square feet in all other zoning <br />districts. Every campaign sign must contain the name and address of <br />persons responsible for such sign, and that person shall be responsible <br />for its removal. Signs erected before the primary election shall <br />remain in place for no longer than five (5) days after the general or <br />special election for which they are intended. The City shall have the <br />right to remove and destroy unsightly signs or remove signs after the <br />five (5) day limit and assess a fee of one ($1.00) dollar per sign. <br />e. Holiday Signs. A holiday sign as defined by this Ordinance may <br />exceed the sign area maximums specified by this Ordinance for the <br />district within which the sign is located. Said signs shall not, <br />however, exceed size limitations for window signs as allowed by this <br />Ordinance. Holiday signs shall be displayed no longer than forty -five <br />(45) days and shall be removed within two (2) days following the <br />903 -1 <br />
