outreach list to invite participation. It is our hope that, once they participate in a clean-up event
during National Volunteer Week, we will ask those businesses to formally adopt a litter route.

Times and locations will vary throughout the week. New this year, staff plan to offer a community
cleanup celebration during the week, where those participating can meet, connect, and celebrate.
This “mini-event” will include food and games and will likely be held at one of our park spaces.

LC Litter Crew
Participating individuals will become official members of the #LCLitterCrew, a slogan our
community can use to help promote the program and involvement. On an annual basis, staff will
formally thank members who have adopted a litter route or park, or who have participated in other
litter reduction activities. For participating businesses, staff will conduct an annual visit to their
location to help celebrate their dedication to the Little Canada Community.

Supplemental Cleanups
Outside of these targeted cleanup efforts, additional cleanups would be organized as needed. Staff
would contact all members of the LC Litter Crew to assist with those cleanups.

Little Canada Staff Participation
In the Creating Supportive Networks Strategic Direction, there is an action item around staff
volunteering. The purpose of this action is to increase staff participation in community volunteerism
and to enhance staff visibility within the community. Therefore, staff will adopt a litter route and
Gervais Mill Park. Staff will also be approaching our neighbors across the street – Ramsey
Washington Metro Watershed District, to ask if they would like to co-adopt as a joint-governmental
partnership.

Marketing Plan
Print Marketing
Staff plans to launch this new program in the upcoming city newsletter in advance of National
Volunteer Week – the April-June edition. Staff also plans to develop a print flyer and advertise
throughout the community. This flyer will also be printed and available at city hall.

School Engagement
Staff will provide electronic communication to our school partners. This will be sent in a digital
format, specifically developed so that text can be automatically translated in digital newsletters.

Multi-Family Engagement
Staff will send the flyer and e-newsletter, ready-formatted materials, to our multi-family
communities.

Business Engagement
Staff will send this program and volunteer opportunities to our new business contact list, and an
informational flyer will be added to the business visit packets. Staff will send a save-the-date
following the February 25 Council Meeting to ensure the National Volunteer Week Dates are saved
on calendars. Staff also plans to expand this program to our contracted vendors who may be
interested in volunteering in the client’s communities.

Personal Engagement
Staff will personally contact city commissioners, community ambassadors, and our community
partners to invite participation
