CITY OF LITTLE CANADA <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 2026-3-33 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURSUIT OF FUNDING ASSISTANCE <br />THROUGH CONGRESSWOMAN BETTY MCCOLLUM’S COMMUNITY FUNDING <br />PROGRAM AND SENATORS TINA SMITH AND AMY KLOBUCHAR’S <br />CONGRESSIONALLY DIRECTED SPENDING PROGRAMS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Little Canada will construct a pedestrian bridge over Interstate 35E (I- <br />35E), directly north of Little Canada Road (CSAH 21), and <br /> <br />WHERAS, the City of Little Canada requests funding to complete planning, public engagement, <br />concept development, environmental review, preliminary design, final design, and construction <br />of the proposed pedestrian bridge, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the pedestrian bridge will enhance the area’s pedestrian and bicycle connectivity <br />and safety and increase transportation options near the city’s main commercial corridor, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Congresswoman Betty McCollum, Senator Tina Smith, and Senator Amy <br />Klobuchar offer funding opportunities to assist local governments with eligible projects through <br />the Community Funding Program (CFP) and Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS). <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Little <br />Canada; that <br /> <br />1. The City Council hereby supports the construction of a pedestrian bridge over I-35E, and <br /> <br />2. The City Council hereby supports the pursuit of CFP and CDS funding and authorizes <br />staff to prepare and submit such applications, and <br /> <br />3. The City Council hereby commits to funding project elements not eligible for CFP or <br />CDS funding, ensuring the project will comply with all funding requirements, and <br />following the project schedule as presented in the application. <br /> <br />Adopted by the Council this 11th day of March, 2026. <br /> <br /> <br /> _____________________________ <br /> Thomas Fischer, Mayor <br /> <br />Attest: _________________________________ <br /> Heidi Heller, City Clerk
