The neighbors favored the installation of surmountable curbing emphasizing the need to transition
the driveway aprons to take away the big bump. The City Engineer stated this can be
accomplished.
A question was raised regarding the depth of the sanitary sewer line proposed to be reconstructed.
The City Engineer did not have the exact depth but indicated it was very deep. The neighbors
were concerned about the disruption this would cause and mentioned the problems they
experienced when it was installed the first time. Staff acknowledged this will be disruptive work,
but that we would take all reasonable measures to mitigate the inconvenience caused by the
project.
A question was asked if the gas main would be impacted by the project. The City Engineer did
not know for sure, but explained that Xcel would likely look at upgrading their utilities given the
nature of this project. This type of coordination occurs in the design phase of the project.
Concern was also voiced with not creating the appearance that a trail exists at the end of Sextant
going to the east. It was noted some people are starting to use it this way and only a sewer
easement exists. A sign was requested at the end of Sextant and Sunset Court indicating this is
private property. Staff said we could address this type of request.
The City Administrator asked for a consensus of those present regarding their interest in this
project. Those present indicated their reluctant acceptance of the reconstruction of the street and
the related sewer work.
The City Administrator stated this information would be provided to the City Council at their
meeting of December 191h and an improvement hearing would likely be held in January. If so,
notice would be given to all affected property owners.
The City Administrator thanked those present for taking the time to discuss this project with staff.
The meeting was adjourned.
- 1 7 -
