MEMORANDUM
TO: Residents Affected by Proposed LaBore Road Area Thorough -fare Plan
FROM: Joel R. Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: August 11, 2000
RE: Thoroughfare Plan and Deer Control
Thoroughfare Plan:
A neighborhood meeting was held on Tuesday, July 11`h, to discuss future development potential in
the LaBore Road area as well as to evaluate the creation of a thoroughfare plan. (Minutes are
attached.) As a result of that discussion, it was felt that a survey should be done of property owners
who would be directly affected by this concept to determine if there is interest in continuing this
process. We have prepared the attached survey form to aid us in this regard and your input is
desired.
The results of this survey together with the minutes of the July 11th meeting will then be forwarded
to the City Council for consideration at their meeting to be held Wednesday, August 23, 2000.
Deer Harvest:
At the July neighborhood meeting, some residents expressed concern with damage that deer are
causing to shrubbery and plantings. It is possible for the City, in conjunction with the Minnesota
Department of Natural Resources, to conduct a controlled deer harvest by bow and arrow utilizing
qualified individuals. (See Ordinance attached.)
Therefore, we would like to know your position relative to the need for a controlled deer harvest.
The survey results will be used by the City Council to determine if further action is warranted on
this issue.
Response Deadline:
Your input is important to us. Please return the attached survey to City Hall by 5:00 p.m. on
Thursday, August 17`h. The form can be dropped off at City Hall or returned in the self - addressed
envelope enclosed. Please be advised that those not responding will be deemed in favor of the
questions posed. If you have any comments of questions, please feel free to give me a call at
(651) 486 -3891.
Lt4J,c 114
