CORPORATE OFFICES
275 W. Wheelock Pkwy.
St. Paul, MN 55117
(651) 488 -6717
Fax: (651) 488 -5726
GREENHOUSES, GARDEN CENTER & FLOWER MARTS F-t, 1 . ,P,SM
City of Little Canada
Planning Commission and City Council
515 Little Canada Rd.
Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
Honorable Commissioners and Council,
liErSagraiggD
December 13, 2002
This application is being made to the City of Little Canada to alter our Conditional Use Permit for
the Linder's Flower Mart at the Little Canada Market Place Center at 2900 Rice St. Our previous
CUP was approved by Little Canada on February 24, 1993. Since that time we have operated the
Flower Mart for ten years. During that time we have served many customers, residents of this city
and others. We have heard many excellent comments about Linder's, our products and especially
the quality of our staff and its customer service.
The CUP now needs to be amended due to the construction of the Snyder's Drug Store in the
location we had been using. I have had conversations with the owner, Robert Grootwassink in
regards to moving the Flower Mart to another site on his property. We have examined the lot and
have proposed moving the Flower Mart to a place on the eastern portion of the lot.
In choosing a site we have tried to evaluate many things which may be affected by each location.
We have chosen the site shown on the attached diagram as the best site for now and into the future.
It is away from the front of the center far enough to allow parking for the other merchants. Utilities
are fairly close and accessible. It has good visibility from all areas of the lot, although certainly not
as good as the original site.
I have attached several drawings showing the Flower Mart, its location, floor plan and surrounding
patio display areas. The Flower Mart is substantially similar to the previous location except some
adjustments to it size, which are shown. I am also including in this letter of application other
pertinent information you may need within this approval process. I can safely say that in our ten
years here we have not heard a complaint of any type and we have tried very hard to be an excellent
business for this community and are eager to continue serving all of our customers in Little Canada.
ABOUT LINDER'S:
Linder's is a family business and has been growing and selling high quality flower and vegetable
plants for over 90 years. We grow most everything we sell other than nursery stock, some
perennials, and specialty items, and have two large growing locations: St. Paul and Lake Elmo.
1
>vectoteut9 71e Seela 71ete Ewzei'acez .r
