Fahey
COUNCIL
Jim LaValte
Matt Anderson
Rick Montour
Bill Blesener
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(651) 766 -4029 / FAX: (651) 766 -4048 ADMINISTRATOR
www.ci.Gttle- canada.mn.us Joel R. Hanson
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Connie!
FROM: Kathy Glanzer, Deputy Clerk
DATE: January 3, 2003
RE: 2003 Legal Newspaper Designation
The City has received a quote from Lillie Suburban Newspapers for 2003 Legal
Newspaper designation. No other quotes were received. Below is a comparison of this
quote with 2002 rates:
2002 2003
Lillie Lillie
Suburban Suburban
Floor Agendas $44 /Mo. $46 /Mo.
Legal Rate $4.65/In. $4.82/In.
You will note that Lillie Suburban is quoting a cost of $279 per month for publication of
Council meeting minutes. As you will recall, in 2000 the City began mailing Council
minutes to property owners who requested this service in lieu of publishing the minutes.
Currently, there are 14 property owners on the mailing list. Based on calculations put
together in 1999, the cost for mailing minutes to one property owner for the entire year is
$43.77. Given the limited number of requests for minutes as well as their availability on
the WEB, staff recommends that the City continue the practice of mailing minutes upon
request rather than publishing them.
It is staff's recommendation that Lillie Suburban Newspapers be designated as the City's
legal newspaper for 2003.
