515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada. MN 55117 -1600
(651) 766 -4029 / FAX: (651) 766 -4048
Email: citvhall@ci.little- canada.mn.us
March 2, 2001
Mr. Robert G. Berens, Community Affairs Manager
Williams Energy Services
2728 Patton Road
St. Paul, MN 55113
Re: Donation for Park Development
Dear Bob:
SfAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim taVaile
Mau Anderson
Rick Montour
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
This past summer, at the Suburban Area Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament, I visited with you
about the possibility of securing a donation from Williams Energy Services to assist us with the
development of a new, neighborhood park. You indicated that with Williams' commitment to good
corporate citizenship in the communities they are involved with that a donation of 550,000 or more is a
realistic possibility. I have discussed our conversation with my peers on the City Council and am now
writing to discover the process needed to receive this donation
Some background on this park is as follows:
• It is located on Jackson Street, just south of Little Canada Road.
• It is 2'/ acres in size.
• It will have a playground, % basketball court, trails, and gazebo.
• We estimate total development costs at 5285,000.
The City Council will soon be deciding upon the name for this park. As we discussed, a sizable
contribution could allow us to name the park after your company or to provide some other type of
recognition of your company's commitment to our community. Therefore, we would like to finalize the
pertinent details as soon as possible so we can complete the planning process.
On behalf of the City of Little Canada, I want to thank you considering this project. We look forward to
hearing from you.
Sincerely,
James LaValle
Council Member
Cc: Mayor & City Council
Jim Morelan, Parks & Recreation Director
Page 4
