i•I1NUTES <br />Parks & Recreation Commission <br />March 1, 2001 <br />The City Administrator commented that the sidewalk on Jackson Street from Little Canada <br />Road to the new park will be installed this spring. Our goal is to complete this work before <br />driveways and yards are established for the townhomes. <br />CONCERTS Danielson stated that she will soon begin contacting bands to schedule this year's concerts. <br />The Commission members commented that more advertising is needed this year with the use <br />of temporary signs. <br />PROJECTS Sanders reported that Public Works staff will begin the Gervais Mill Entry Project in mid - <br />May. <br />RECREATION The Director reported on the following items: <br />REPORT <br />• A proposed parks and recreation fee schedule was presented for approval. The procedure <br />of establishing the rates was explained. The LCRA pays 20% of any activity over S20. <br />Larson recommended approval of the 2001 parks and recreation fee schedule as <br />presented. <br />Motion seconded by Gray. <br />Motion carried 5 — 0. <br />• The current recreation registration flyer and the annual youth activities schedule were <br />presented. <br />• A brochure from the Friends of the Parks & Trails was presented outlining their 2001 tree <br />sale. <br />• A bus trip to the Timberwolves game was held last Friday. 70 -75 people attended. This <br />activity was marketed to our basketball teams. The LCRA funded the bus. <br />• Fastpitch tryouts will be held this weekend. Our staff will oversee this event which will <br />be held at Roseville Area High School. <br />• Adult softball will be held four nights this summer with leagues on Monday. Wednesday, <br />Thursday, and Friday at Pioneer Park. <br />• Three 55 Alive Driving Refresher Classes will be held at Little Canada City Center this <br />month. Two of the three classes are already full. <br />• A firearms safety class for youth may be held at the Old Fire Hall this fall. An instructor <br />needs to be solicited for this class. <br />Page 3 <br />
