FIRST AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT BETWEEN <br />THE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA AND JOEL HANSON <br />This document is the First Amendment to the Agreement, dated November 8, 1989, <br />between the City of Little Canada and Joel Hanson. This document amends the following <br />described paragraphs of said Agreement of November 8, 1989. All other provisions of the <br />Agreement of November 8, 1989, remain in full force and effect. <br />Paragraph 2, entitled "Salary ", is amended to read as follows: <br />BASE SALARY and Compensation Adjustments. <br />The City of Little Canada agrees to pay Hanson a salary of $82,676 per year commencing <br />January 1, 2001. <br />As of January 1, 2002, the City of Little Canada agrees to pay I- Ianson a salary of <br />$85,000. $5,000 of the $85,000 will be paid as deferred compensation in 2002 as <br />provided in Paragraph 3 below. The City Council agrees to conduct performance reviews <br />and to review Hanson's compensation prior to , 2002. <br />Paragraph 3, entitled "Deferred Compensation ", is amended to read as follows: <br />3. DEFERRED COMPENSATION. The City shall execute the necessary documents to <br />allow Hanson to enroll in a deferred compensation plan selected by agreement of the City and <br />Hanson. The City agrees to contribute an amount equal to the percentage the City would pay to <br />PERA on behalf of Hanson, and to contribute $5,000 to said deferred compensation plan in 2002. <br />Paragraph 10, entitled "Termination and Severance Pay", is amended to read as follows: <br />10. TERMINATION AND SEVERANCE PAY. <br />In the event that Hanson is terminated by the City Council during such time that Hanson <br />is willing and able to perform the duties of City Administrator, then in that event, the City <br />agrees to pay Hanson a lump sum cash payment equal to six months of wages. Any <br />severance payments will be made without a matching deferred compensation payment <br />from the City. In addition to said severance pay, Hanson shall be paid for any unused <br />vacation. No compensation shall be given for any unused sick leave. However, in the <br />event Hanson is terminated because of his conviction for any illegal act involving <br />personal gain to himself, then the City shall have no obligation to pay the severance pay, <br />accrued and unused vacation or sick leave provided in this Paragraph. <br />If the City at any time during the employment term reduces the salary or other financial <br />benefits of Hanson in a greater percentage than across - the -board reduction for all City <br />employees, or if the City refuses, following written notice, to comply with any other <br />provision in this Agreement benefiting Hanson, then Hanson may, at his option, be <br />
