MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Matt Anderson
Rick Montour
515 Little Canada Road. Little Canada. MN 55117 -1600 ADMINISTRATOR
(651) 766 -4029 / FAX: (651) 766 -4048 Joel R. Hanson
Email: cityhall @ci.little- canada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Greg Schroeder, Public Works Director
DATE: August 3, 2001
RE: No Parking at Arcade /County Rd. B2 Intersection
Mugs Nardini and Mark Weavers representing the Lake Gervais Lake Association, requested
staff to evaluate the possibility of a no- parking zone along the west side of Arcade Street south
of County Road B2 to improve visibility.
I have inspected the site and determined that there is a no parking zone along the west side of
Arcade Street north of County Road B2. Further, there is a "Two Hour" restricted parking area
along west side of Arcade Street south of B2. The east side of Arcade Street is in the City of
Maplewood. Please refer to the attached sketch.
It can be concluded that traffic wishing to tum north onto Arcade Street from County Road B2
could have visibility problems if vehicles were parked along the west side of Arcade south of
County Road 82. If a vehicle were to turn south onto Arcade Street from County Road 32, no
visibility problems should exist if no one is parking in the no parking area along the west side of
Arcade Street north of County Road B2.
Based on the above I recommend that a 60 foot long "No Parking" zone be established along the
west side of Arcade Street south of County Road B2 to provide better visibility for vehicles.
cc: Lake Gervais Lake Assoc.
H:VessicaJ\Agenda\2001\no park arcade & B2.doc
Page 12
