Hanson
Email: cityhall @ci.little - canada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
FROM: Kathy Glanzer, Deputy Clerk
DATE: February 8, 2001
RE: Liquor License Violation — Gas N Go
On Friday, December 29, 2000, the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department conducted
alcohol compliance checks of the City's businesses holding liquor licenses. Of the
businesses checked, Gas N Go had the only failure. As you can see from the report
attached, a clerk at Gas N Go sold liquor to the Sheriff Department's under -aged buyer.
The provisions of Little Canada's Liquor Ordinance requires that the Council either
suspend the license for a period not to exceed sixty days, revoke the license, or impose a
find that may not exceed $2,000. In dealing with other liquor license violations over the
past few years, the Council has considered the matter at a Council meeting to which the
liquor license holder has been invited to provide input or additional information they
might wish to share. Mr. Tom Vogt, owner of Gas N Go has been invited to this
evening's meeting.
Below in a brief history of Council action relative to recent liquor violations:
2000 MGM sold liquor to a retail liquor licensee who was on the MN
Department of Revenue's Liquor Posting Tax Delinquent List.
$1.00 fine imposed.
1996 MGM was open for business on New Year's Day. $100 fine
imposed, with fine suspended if no violations within one year.
1993 Tiemey's was open for business on New Year's Day. $100 fine
imposed, with fine suspended if no violations within one year.
cc: Tom Vogt, Gas N Go
Page 2
