MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scaize
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600 ADMINISTRATOR
(651) 484 -2177 / FAX: (651) 484 -4538 Joel R. Hanson
Email: cityhall @ci.little- canada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: December 15, 2000
RE: Market Place Land Donation
As part of our development agreement with Market Place Shopping Center, the owners (Bob
Grootwassink and Mark Hotzler) agreed to donate the piece of land just north of Garden Terrace
to the City. (See map enclosed.) Acceptance of this donation would enable the City to work
with Common Bond Communities relative to an expansion of Garden Terrace as has been
discussed for the past number of years. (As you may recall, this property also involves a
relocation of utility lines to make building construction possible. By obtaining this land at no
cost, we now have the ability to resolve that complicated issue.) Bob and Mark will be present at
Wednesday's meeting to present the deed.
Market Place Center is preparing a deed for the property. The deed and title commitments will
be reviewed by our City Attorney prior to Wednesday's meeting. Subject to any comments the
City Attorney may have, I would recommend acceptance of this deed by the City.
\ \CLCSRVOI \ ROME \ICrisP \CORRESP \2000 \Market Place Lai
Page 50
