Revised 12/06/00 <br />(2) The user shall make . -: D: . ..00 an advance cash deposit in an <br />amount established by City Council resolution to guarantee payment for water used <br />and to cover breakage and damages to hydrant, which shall be refunded upon <br />expiration of the permit, less applicable charges for use. <br />(3) <br />The user shall pay a rental charge as established by City Council resolution of Ten <br />Dollars ($10.00), for each thirty (30) day period or fraction thereof, and a charge as <br />established by City Council resolution $-45 for each 1,000 gallons of water used. <br />1601.421. MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF PRIVATE FIRE HYDRANTS. Private <br />water hydrants, as well as public water hydrants, shall be maintained and repaired by the Little <br />Canada Public Works Department to ensure their operation as part of the community's fire protection <br />system. The Public Works Department of the City is hereby granted access to any and all private <br />fire hydrants within the City that are connected to the municipal water system irrespective of the <br />availability of a dedicated access point. Should the maintenance and /or repair of a private fire <br />hydrant require the usage of water from a metered source, no adjustment will be made to the property <br />owner's water bill. If damage occurs to the property during maintenance and/or repair activities, the <br />property owner is to be responsible for the damage and for restoration of the site after the City <br />completes its work. If the repair of a private fire hydrant requires installation of a new hydrant or <br />replacement of part(s) of the existing private fire hydrant, the cost of labor and materials associated <br />with said repair will be the responsibility of the property owner. All such costs which are not paid <br />within 30 days of billing by the City will be collected as provided in Section 1601.340. <br />1601.430. TEMPORARY CONNECTION TO FIRE HYDRANTS. An owner of a private <br />water system may make a temporary above ground connection to a fire hydrant, subject to the time <br />periods, conditions and payment specified in Section 1601.420. In addition, the method of <br />connection to the private system shall conform to all existing requirements of the Code and the type <br />of meter used shall meet the approval of the Plumbing Inspector. <br />1601.440. HYDRANT RENTALS. There shall be a an annual Fifteen Dollars (315.00) <br />rental fee for tire hydrants as established by City Council resolution, payable by each owner upon <br />whose property such hydrant is situated. <br />1601.450. PENALTIES FOR DAMAGE TO WATER SYSTEM. Whoever intentionally <br />destroys, damages or tampers with any property of the water system shall be guilty of a misdemeanor <br />and may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than ninety (90) days or to payment of a fine <br />as established by City Council resolution of not more than Three Hundred Dollars (3300.00). <br />MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS <br />1601.500. UTILITIES SUPERINTENDENT. The Council may appoint a Utilities <br />Superintendent who shall assume and discharge the responsibilities imposed by this Chapter, along <br />Page 88 <br />
