Also, we will host Wednesday evening
beginner tournaments so that players of all skill levels can have the opportunity to compete in a
tournament setting.
The rapid -fire billiard tournament format on Mondays and Thursdays is single elimination
beginning at 7 :00 p.m. With a normal -sized field of competitors, the tournaments will conclude by
or before 2:00 a.m. Weekday evening pool tournaments will begin at 7:00 p.m. with a double-
elimination format, also concluding by or before 2:00 a.m. The current midnight closing requirement
does not accommodate evening tournaments, and would prevent Coliseum BilliArds from participating
in our region's acclaimed tournament roster.
The regular hours of operation for pool rooms in Minneapolis and the Twin Cities suburbs
is 24- hours: Al's Billiards in Roseville is open until 2:00 a.m., Louie's Billiards in North St. Paul
normally closes at 2:00 a.m., and most other billiard rooms in Minneapolis and the Twin Cities
suburbs are allowed to stay open 24 -hours a day, e.g., Shooters in Burnsville, Fat Boys in
Minneapolis, Jimmy's in Columbia Heights and Billiard Street Cafe in Fridley. Since Coliseum
Billiards began operating in May 2000, we have become a family-oriented billiard room where young
and old can play pool, billiards and snooker in a clean, spacious and secure setting. Coliseum
Billiards has not experienced any problems nor has it adversely impacted Little Canada or surrounding
communities. Coliseum Billiards' has accomplished in a short period oftime exactly what our initial
mission statement proposed, that is, to provide our patrons with high quality and exceptionally well
maintained pool and billiard equipment in attractive surroundings; the opportunity for casual and
serious players to compete; a setting for family leisure time entertainment in a safe and secure
atmosphere; and leave to operate until 2:00 a.m. will enable us to host pool and billiard tournaments
for players of every skill level, from beginner to world class competitors.
Thank you for your consideration.
Page 12
