G'y V
• i (l? term(/ Ott 0,11e7 ,w'/ .1 it f;. . —"we:.
To: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
From: Sue Nelson, Canadian Days President
Date: October 11, 2000
RE: 10% Fund Budget
Our committee is requesting help with funding of the fireworks display for the 2001
Canadian Days festival from the 10% fund. In the past several years, we have hired
Melrose Pyrotechnics to provide a $5,000 fireworks display for which the City
contributed $4,000 and Canadian Days funded the remaining $1,000.
At the end of August, Canadian Days had a net profit carryover after state taxes of
$19,450.45. However, after paying our lawful purpose expenditures (festival - related
expenses) of $22,535.40, we have a profit carryover of only $10,737.66 in our gambling
fund. Please refer to the attached spreadsheet.
Next year is the 25`h Anniversary of Canadian Days and we hope to put on a festival that
will commemorate this special occasion as well as to continue celebrating the friendships
that have been established with our Sister City, Thunder Bay, Ontario. We would
sincerely appreciate the City's continued support of the fireworks display through use of
the 10% fund.
Page 2
