This work can not be done without shutting the water main off. Therefore, we will
need to shut off sections of the Little Canada Road water main that provide city water supply to your residence or
business. To keep the impact of the water shut off to a minimum, this work has been scheduled for this Saturday,
September 9, 2000, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. To further minimize the inconvenience, city crews will be on site
turning off only the sections of water main where the work is occurring and keeping other sections active. This will
hopefully result in only a 2 to 3 hour water shut off to your residence or business some time between the 8:00 a.m. & 4:00
p.m. time slot.
APOLOGY: We apologize for the inconveniences you have endured during the initial phases of this project. Here are
some key factors we want you to be aware of:
• US West and NSP Gas and Electric are also working in this area to upgrade their facilities prior to our work
being completed. While they have been doing a good job, power and phone interruptions have resulted from
their efforts.
• The City's Contractor, Palda and Sons, started work on August 21st. They are making their best efforts to
keep the job progressing as quickly as possible. However, access delays of over 10 minutes, extended water
interruptions, and rudeness are not acceptable to the City. All of those matters have been discussed with the
contractor and dramatic improvements are expected.
WORK SCHEDULE: The City's Contractor has been working between Market Place Drive and Rice Street. Weather
permitting, the tentative schedule for completion of the project is as follows:
Item
Sanitary Sewer (Rice to RR Tracks)
Water Main (Rice to RR Tracks)
Storm Sewer (Rice to RR Tracks)
Street Sub -Cut Excavation (Rice to RR Tracks)
Curb
First Layer of Asphalt
Scheduled Completion
Week of September 4'h
Week of September
Week of September 25th
Week of September 25th
Week of October 2nd
Week of October 9th
Major inconveniences will periodically be experienced during installation of utilities and subcutting of the road. Once the
gravel base is installed, it will become easier moving within the project area. After the first layer of asphalt, is installed,
life will return closer to normal. Construction of amenities will occur next spring/summer but traffic and utility
interruption should be very minor.
THANK YOU: Again we apologize for any inconveniences you have experienced. We also want you to know that we
greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue with this difficult project. If you have any questions,
please call the on -site city construction inspector, Lyle Splittstoser at 612- 963 -7188 or Greg Schroeder at the Little
Canada City Center at 651 -484 -2177.
Page 45
