MAYOR
Michael L Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaVaile
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
515 Little Canada Road. Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600 ADMINISTRATOR
(651) 484 -2177 / FAX: (651) 484 4538 Joel R. Hanson
Email: cityhall @ci.little- canada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel R. Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: August 19, 2000
RE: Little Canada Road Update
Change Order #1:
Attached is a letter from Lee Elfering of HRG that is to serve as the basis for change
order number one. Due to our delays in authorizing the contractor to proceed, we had to
negotiate a substantial completion date that was fair to the contractor yet provided us with
reasonable certainty that the road would be paved without undue delay and in favorable
weather conditions. That date has been established as October 20°i. Please note that this
date is automatically extended for any delays caused by the utility work and /or weather.
It should also be noted that we are not requiring sidewalk work to be done within this
time period (although it still could occur).
We have also agreed to increase the compensation for bituminous wear course by an
additional 3.46 per ton to compensate for additional costs that may result from paving the
final lift next spring. Due to our cost participation agreement with Ramsey County, they
will absorb the majority of this cost.
Staff recommends approval as presented.
Cedars/Lakeside Pond Easement:
I have attached the correspondence and easement form submitted to Bigos Management
for our ponding easement at Lakeside Apartments. We received their attorney's response
today. They have asked for the following considerations:
• Continued existence and no visual obstruction to their current signage. (This should
not be an issue based on construction plans.)
Page 119
