c + v& 7414 'ate
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117-1600
(651) 484 -2177 / FAX: (651) 484 -4538
Email: cityhall @ci.little- canada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Greg Schroeder, Public Works Director
DATE: July 20, 2000
RE: No Parking Zone on Rosewood Drive
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey,
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
We have received complaints about vehicle congestion at the intersection of Rosewood Drive
and County Road C. Cars parking close to this intersection can restrict traffic flow and reduce
sight lines resulting in a potential accident area.
Rosewood Drive is 32 feet wide which would enable parking on both sides of the street and two
narrow traffic lanes.
To resolve this problem I would normally recommend a No Parking Zone on both sides of
Rosewood Drive 60 feet back from the intersection with County Road C. However, because of
the Coffee House parking lot exit, and potential congestion there, I recommend the No Parking
Zone on both sides of Rosewood Drive continued back to the parking lot exit as shown on
the attached sketch. Further that city staff monitor this area to see if this resolves the
problem. I have met with the owners of the Coffee House and they concur with the proposed
No Parking Zone.
CC: Doug and Jan McMillian
Micki Hentges
Page 54
