MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MAY 23, 2000
ZONING CODE
AMENDMENT
RELATING TO
MEDICAL
CLINICS
AMENDMENT
TO T.H.P. COMP
PLAN AND
ZONING CODE
FOR DISTRICT
3 -2
Fahey opened the public hearing to consider an amendment to the Zoning
Code relating to the definition of medical clinics. It was noted that the
Planning Commission has recommended approval of the amendment.
There was no one present from the general public wishing to comment on
this matter.
Upon motion by Scalze, seconded by Fahey, the public hearing was
closed.
Given that there weren't four members of the Council present, this matter
had to be tabled.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2000 -5 -133 — TABLING ACTION ON THE
AMENDMENT TO THE ZONING CODE RELATIVE TO THE
DEFINITION OF MEDICAL CLINICS TO THE CONSENT AGENDA
OF THE JUNE 13, 2000 REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Fahey.
Ayes (3) Scalze, Fahey, Pedersen.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
Fahey opened the public hearing to consider an amendment to the
Comprehensive Plan and the Zoning Code relating to allowed uses
and site plan requirements in the City's Redevelopment District No.
3 -2, Rice Street and Little Canada Road. It was noted that the
Planning Commission has recommended approval.
Scalze indicated that she had a concern with the way multi - family housing
is addressed and suggested that she would be more comfortable if it were
limited to senior citizen housing. Fahey agreed and indicated that he was
not in favor of any more multi - family housing other than senior housing.
The City Administrator suggested the best way to address the situation
may be by precluding certain uses in the PUD District.
Fahey again indicated that multi - family housing should be limited to
strictly senior housing. Pedersen suggested that the right type of
development may make a difference, and suggested that the amendment
not be entirely limiting.
Page 54
