MINUTES <br />Parks & Recreation Commission <br />May 4, 2000 <br />adjustments can be made without compromising the safety of the participants. He <br />commented that the lighting quality is excellent. <br />DIRECTOR'S The Director reported on the following items: <br />REPORT <br />• Current recreation registration flyers were passed out to all Commission members <br />including information on tennis lessons, golf lessons, day camp, and adventures in the <br />park. <br />• Arbor Day took place Last week. A picture of the event is on the front cover of this <br />week's issue of The Review and the event was also videotaped. The tape will be played <br />on Little Canada's Cable Channel 16. Anderson did an excellent job representing the <br />Commission at the event. <br />• The Council will be rezoning the Jackson Street park property from R -1 to Public. They <br />wanted the Commission's comments on this rezoning. <br />Broten recommended rezoning the Jackson Street park area from R -1 to Public. <br />Motion seconded by Larson. <br />Motion carried 7- 0. <br />• The bleacher safety bill was finally passed. Little Canada's bleachers technically do not <br />have to be replaced since they are not very tall. However, they will be replaced anyway <br />in the interest of safety and due to the age of the structures. <br />• St. John's School is contemplating the construction of a new building. As part of the <br />project, the old school will be torn down. The Director and City Administrator met with <br />the school administrator to inquire about the possibility of sharing community space. The <br />Director and City Administrator will continue to explore this idea with St. John's to see if <br />there is interest. It is anticipated that they will be in the new school building by the fall of <br />2001. <br />ADJOURN Schabacher recommended that the meeting be adjourned <br />Motion seconded by Sackett Glaser. <br />Motion carried 7- 0. <br />There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m. <br />Respe,t'. ly sub itted, <br />Pechmati <br />Page 68 <br />
