Metr©Transit
April 14, 2000
Mr. Joel Hanson
Little Canada City Administrator
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, MN 55117
Dear Mr. Hanson:
Improved bus service in your community is nearing reality.
I would like to thank you, your staff and residents for their feedback on Metro Transit's
plans to realign service in the northeast quadrant of the Twin Cities. We have listened
and responded to 4000 citizen comments and to the reactions of the 31 cities and four
counties in the study area.
The attached draft plan represents the changes we expect to make in September. They
impact 24 of the 45 routes in the study area. You will see that we have modified 17 of
the 24 initial route proposals based on feedback we received.
Because three - fourths of the comments dealt with proposed changes in Sector 2, we will
delay implementation of most of those changes until March 2001. This will give us
additional time for analysis of customer comments and an opportunity to adjust proposals
to match those expectations.
The September changes outlined in the attachment will be presented to the Metropolitan
Council Transportation Committee on April 24 and to the full Council on May 3. The
changes that we recommend for March 2001 will follow a similar approval process later
this year. We will provide to you a report on those changes as well.
Once again, thank you for investing your time, energy and talent in improving our
regional transit network.
Sincerely,
Arthur T.
