t
L
L
Men still constitute a majority in the billiard population, outnumbering women by a
66% to 34% margin.
Women are showing a larger percentage of increase in participation than men since
1987, 35.6% to 31.4% and are participating nearly as frequently, 17 days a year as
compared to 26 days for men.
Age groupings show that the prime group (45 %) of players is aged 18 -34, although the
number of players under the age of 12 has grown by 36%, and people aged 35 -54 are
emerging as a real driving force in billiards, as that age group boasted a 37% increase
in 1994, and a stunning 90% quantum leap since 1987.
Economic indicators show that the greatest incidence of billiards participation is in the
$25,000 to $74,999 income range. 22.5% earn $25,000 to $49,999 and 22.7% earn
$50,000 to $74,999. Another 18.9% of participants cam over $75,000, while 17.3%
earn less than $25,000. This indicates billiards is a slightly upscale activity.
Page 65
