Hanson <br />Email: cityhall @ci.little - canada.mn.us <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council <br />FROM: Kathy Glanzer, Deputy Clerk <br />DATE: February 15, 2000 <br />RE: Liquor License Violation — MGM Liquor Warehouse <br />During 1999 MGM Liquor Warehouse violated the provisions of Minnesota Statutes <br />Section 270.73 in that they sold liquor to a retail liquor licensee who was on the MN <br />Department of Revenue Liquor Posting Tax Delinquent List. <br />In dealing with other liquor license violations over the past few years, the Council has <br />considered the matter at a Council meeting to which the liquor license holder was invited <br />to provide any input or additional information they might wish to share. In those other <br />cases, the Council imposed $100 fines. All previous violations that the Council <br />considered were first -time violations. This violation is the second for MGM Liquor <br />Warehouse. On January 1, 1996 MGM had a violation when they were open for business <br />on New Year's Day. Again, a $100 fine was imposed. <br />The provisions of Little Canada's Liquor Ordinance require that that Council either <br />suspend the license for a period not to exceed sixty days, revoke the license, or impose a <br />fine that may not exceed $2,000. The MN Department of Public Safety has already <br />imposed a $200 fine on MGM for this violation. They did not contest the matter and paid <br />the fine. <br />Page 73 <br />
