This letter is a summary of the meeting and a
copy of the proposed driveway entrances as they were discussed at the meeting is
enclosed.
It was proposed that the Venetian Inn receive two entrances onto Little Canada Road.
One entrance would be a right -in /right -out driveway located near the west end of their
parking lot. This driveway would be lined up with the existing driving lane in their parking
lot that runs between the west edge of the building and a row of parking stalls. The
proposed median would eliminate the ability for cars exiting the parking lot at that
entrance to go west on Little Canada Road. If the median was not installed, the
centerline would most likely be stripped as a double yellow. It is illegal to cross a double
yellow line, however this movement is typically not enforced and drivers would most
likely make the movement. The median would not become an important issue until the
property in the northeast corner of the intersection is developed. At that time, the
absence of a median would allow cars to stop a short distance from the intersection and
wait to make a left turn across the two west bound lanes of traffic. This movement would
most likely create more of an inconvenience to drivers trying to get in and out of the
Venetian Inn parking lot than the median would.
The second entrance would be located near the east end of the parking lot. This
entrance would be an unrestricted entrance allowing traffic to go east or west on Little
Canada Road. The exact location of this driveway has not yet been determined. The
location of the entrance would most likely be located within 100 feet of theeast end of
the parking lot, however the parking configuration will determine the exact location of the
entrance.
O: /PROJ /805750) /0060 /Itr 2 -14 -00 Hanson
RECE VED ; 7 2NB
Page 96
1326 Energy Park Drive • St. Paul, MN 55108 • 651/644 -4389 fax 651/644-9446 toll free 888/368 -4389
