1998 GOAL SETTING SESSION <br />STEP ONE — DEFINING AND PRIORITIZING THE CITY'S GOALS <br />Attendees reviewed the priorities that were developed at the 1996 Goal Setting Session. Based <br />on this review, some priorities were modified, and some were added. Priorities were then ranked <br />through a point system. Each attendee assigned three points to two of the priorities they felt <br />were "Critical/Needs Energy/Direction ". Two points were assigned to two of the priorities they <br />felt were "Moderately Important/Needs Some Focus ", and one point was assigned to two of the <br />priorities they felt were "Going Okay/Not As Important ". The Facilitator tallied points and the <br />following ranking was the result. <br />Ranking <br />1 Increasing property values, redevelopment, thriving business community, <br />business retention. (42 points) <br />2 Financial planning for the future — Years 2000/2003 <br />- Needs <br />- Resources <br />- Decision Process /Communication (36 points) <br />3 Nice parks, trails, wilderness for all areas of the City. (Northwest quadrant). <br />(Fully developed) (30 points) <br />4 Attractive, well - groomed community. Well- maintained streets and infrastructure. <br />(19 points) <br />5 Safe(r) place. (II points) <br />6 Low City taxes, (9 points) <br />7 Recreation and cultural opportunities for all age groups. (8 points) <br />8 Access to City government. (7 points) <br />9 Volunteer /citizen involvement - including youth. (6 points) <br />Community /quality /safe schools. (6 points) <br />10 Identity /pride /caring community /small town feel. (5 points) <br />11 A balance of business /industrial /varied residential land uses. (Comp Plan update) <br />(4 points) <br />Efficient City services (lower water rates). (4 points) <br />Walkway over freeway - tie to trail system. (4 points) <br />12 Nature Center (2 points) <br />No Pts. Clean, quiet environment /Gervais Lake.
