MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600 ADMINISTRATOR
(651) 484 -2177 / FAX: (651) 484 -4538 Joel R. Hanson
Email: cityhall@ci.little - canada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: December 30, 1999
RE: Review of Stop Sign Placement
Council Member Pedersen would like us to review the placement of the stop sign at Jackson
Street and Lake Street. The concern with this sign's placement relates to the question as to
whether or not it is an appropriate traffic control measure for that intersection. I have indicated
to him I would schedule this matter for discussion by the Council to obtain your direction.
If we are to review that stop sign, we may want to take a look at some other signs that have been
questioned over the years. Locations of those signs are as follows:
♦ Demont and Canabury Drive
♦ DeSoto and Allen
♦ DeSoto and LaBore
If the Council desires staff to review this matter in greater detail, we would do a more
comprehensive analysis of any other stop signs that should be included on this listing. We would
then have the Sheriff's Department and the Public Works Department comment on the placement
of these signs and their desirability from a traffic control standpoint.
Council Member Pedersen may wish to make additional comments regarding this topic. Based
on that discussion, staff awaits your direction.
JH:kp
Page 19
