Little Canada, MN 55117 -1633 RE: 2012 MILL & OVERLAY IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT PARTIAL PAY ESTIMATE #3 & CHANGE ORDER #1 Dear Council Members: Partial Payment No. 3 and Change Order No. 1 are being prepared for your review and approval at the Wednesday, August 8th Council meeting. The partial payment will include some Change Order work that is currently being tabulated as the work was just completed this week. The Change Order work was for the correction of a failed area of Rosewood Drive approximately one lane wide by 200 feet long. The failure occurred shortly after the bituminous base course paving and only occurred on the inbound lane. The reclaimed aggregate base passed the standard tests prior to paving, but it appears that moisture was pulled into the aggregate street base from the surrounding subgrade by the heat and compaction of the bituminous paving. The area was allowed to dry out naturally in order to save the existing gravel and was recently corrected with the installation of sand and drain tile to prevent migration of moisture into the aggregate in the future. Some of the work was being completed on a time and material basis and we are awaiting final documentation from the Contractor on the material costs and wage rates for calculation of payment. We expect to have all the necessary information /documentation next week prior to the Council meeting and will include Partial Payment No. 3 and Change Order No. 1 as an addition to the agenda packet.
