MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 8, 2012
McGraw asked if the improvements are decorative in nature. The City
Engineer replied that one of the improvements is a building approximately
30 feet by 15 feet that is used for storage of lawn equipment, etc.
The Council and City Engineer again reviewed the details of the existing
sewer line location, and the options for improving the line. Based on that
discussion, it was the consensus of the Council that:
o The City Engineer should obtain quotes for the cost of
removal and relocating of the private landscape features.
These costs would then be reviewed by the Council to
determine whether or not the property owner would he
offered compensation for this work. It was again noted that
the City Attorney has indicated that the City has no
obligation to provide this compensation. However, the
Council may be open to considering some level of
compensation based on past practice relative to street
improvements.
o The City Administrator should give notice to the property
owner of its intent to proceed with the sanitary sewer
improvement. The Administrator had noted that the project
is planned to proceed yet this year.
o The City Attorney is authorized to become involved in this
matter should a cooperative agreement not be reached with
the property owner.
o City staff should proceed with the process of vacating the
existing easement at the time that the property owner grants
a new easement and when the project is completed.
The City Engineer stated that he would contact the Met Council to
determine if they are agreeable to sharing any costs for removal and
relocation of these private landscape features as part of the sewer project.
NIGHT TO The Mayor reported that there were approximately 22 Night To Unite
UNITE celebrations in the City on Tuesday evening. These parties were well
attended and a good time was had by all.
7
