MINUTES
PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION
AUGUST 16, 2012
Sunset Court to Preserve Trail /Turnquist Wetland — trail and
boardwalk improvements - $250,000
Gervais Mill Park — picnic pavilion and site improvements - $200,000
35E Pedestrian Bridge — N/A
LaBore Road — trail improvements - $360,000
Centerville Road /County Road D Phase 2 (Pioneer Park to Edgerton
Street — trail improvements - $200,000
Powerline — Payne Avenue to Pioneer Park — trail improvements -
$80,000
County Road B2 — Viking Drive to Demont - $60,000
Sanders noted that the biggest change that resulted from the rankings is
that the Centerville Road trail connection between Spooner Park and
Pioneer Park moved up on the list. It was noted that it will be necessary
to acquire easements in order to make this trail connection. Sanders
indicated that it was preferable to place the trail connection on the east
side of Centerville Road to minimize the need for crossing Centerville
Road to access the parks.
Maida asked how much funding there was available for these projects.
The Director indicated that those figures will be available for the
workshop discussion.
Maida noted that some of the specific playground equipment
improvements are less than shown in the estimates. Sanders replied that
that was correct as he has included other amenity improvements such as
landscaping, benches, sidewalks, etc. Maida suggested that Sanders
might want to separate the specific playground costs from other amenity
improvements for discussion purposes. He noted that it might be possible
to upgrade playground equipment and delay the other amenities based on
whatever funding is available.
The Director encouraged the Commissioners to attend the workshop
meeting on August 22°1.
3
