NXC
MEMORANDUM
NORTHWEST ASSOCIATED CONSULTANTS
COMMUNITY PLANNING - DESIGN - MARKET RESEARCH
RECEIVED JUL ,2 6 1999
TO: Little Canada Planning Commission
FROM: Stephen Grittman
DATE: July 2, 1999
RE: Little Canada - Taco John's Architectural Review
FILE NO: 758.09 - 99.22
Taco John's Restaurant has requested approval of a new sign package under the City's
Architectural Review process. The proposed signs would replace the existing signage on
the site. A new freestanding sign and a new wall sign are proposed reflecting revised logo
and graphics of the franchise.
The signs have been sized to meet the City's sign ordinance. Under the Architectural
Guidelines, the City discourages internally lit plastic panel signs. The proposed signs are
internally lit, but are designed to "black out" the background of the sign area, so that only
the logo and lettering are illuminated. It would appear to staff that this sign design meets
the intent of the Architectural Guidelines, and may be approved as submitted.
cc: Kathy Glanzer
Greg Schmidt
Terry Maurer
Greg Schroeder
Craig Halle
5775 WAYZATA BOULEVARD, 1 1 S PARK, MINNESOTA 554 16
Page 82
PHONE 6 1 2 -0
2- 595 -9837
